Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year and as usual, everyone would use the Saturday before hand to dress up and celebrate. On Friday, I was thinking, how awesome would it be if I just went to Manchester for the night and partied with my friends. Before I knew it, the flight was booked and I was on my way.
I flew out Saturday evening but not before nipping into Dublin City Centre and picking up my costume. But more on that later. I was ridiculously early for my flight so I cruised around the airport and did some shopping, had some foot and read a book. I am always worried about being late for flights, because I have missed so many for the same reason.
I was landing just before 8PM and that didn't give me much time to get ready. Andrew very kindly put me up for the evening, which was nice of him, although he is probably much like me, that I sometimes feel that my routine is interrupted when I have someone stay over and I think he felt the same way. But I was very grateful to him for doing it, although I have known Andrew for over a year now and we have shared some special moments but I have only ever stayed over at his house once and that was after a drunken night out. It was convenient as well, as he lived just a short walk to the party we would be going to later.
After the party, we headed to Thomson's a bar on canal street and met up with some more friends, drank and danced. At around 1.30, I started to get tired. This seems to be happening quite regularly now. Before I was using stimulants to keep me going but without them, I just don't have the stamina anymore. So I headed back to Andrew's and crashed in his bed. Although it was short, I still had a really good time and I was glad that I made the journey to celebrate Halloween with my Manchester crew.
The next day, I spent some time with Andrew in the morning, had breakfast and watched the UK Top 20 music countdown, with him throwing in his two cent's about the artists and the song's. I then did some shopping in the City Centre and had dinner with Paul, Ben and Ali and then the four of us met Andrew for drinks in the Village. Danny and his boyfriend showed up too.
As the time to leave got closer, I was anticipating that I would feel sad at having to leave again but I was actually looking forward to getting home, a positive sign that things are going well back here in Dublin, but I was glad to get to say goodbye properly to Danny as he was unable to see me off when I left last week.
Although I had booked a flight to Manchester, I could only afford to get the boat back. It's a trip I usually enjoy as I get to read and chill. A big part of that enjoyment is downloading a new album and listening to it on repeat but unfortunately my MP3 player died a few minutes into the trip and combined with the fact I had only taken the same 12 hour journey just a week ago, the hours seemed to drag and I was relieved to get home and into my own bed at about 7am this morning.
When I woke up, I quickly showered and dressed and hit up my friend Gillian to find out how her Halloween celebrations had gone, she invited me to our friend Dean's house so we could have breakfast. I was super impressed with the spread he put out for us. Bacon, eggs, sausages, croissants, fruit and orange juice. It was sweet of him to do this for us.
For actual Halloween night, we have a couple of potential plans in the pipeline. But me and Gillian want to go see the bonfires that will all be lit up on the night in the estates of Dublin and maybe watch some scary movies afterwards.
It has been exciting few days.
